Anyone using Leaseweb around here? We've been trying to order a new server with them for 3 days and even though they are available "within the hour"... they are not.

I feel like I'm in the wrong movie...

It’s the end of June and all that’s circling my mind is, that if we push off the release by just one more week, it will be 2032 ...

This gem is from the official Apple website. "Forest Explorer" they call it. Guess where the users come from?

1. USA (148k)
2. Russia (65k)
3. China (50k)
4. Saudi Arabia (38k)

As if this mix was not hilarious enough, there's also virtually 0 users from the rest of the world.

It's almost as thought someone used the wrong data, to show something totally unrelated 📡

It is never too late to be what you might have been. - George Eliot

What we perceive as big bang was a spark to ignite the random number generator of another civilization - our universe. Humans, specifically human brains are more dense iterations of prior random number sources that emerged randomly.

After using VSCodium as Flatpak for over a year, we finally have it packaged and running on PantherX OS (guix). What a difference!

Want to support my favourite desktop environment? LXQt is on Open Collective now!

PantherX public beta in 2021? Absolutely! We're not there yet, but it is looking good! In ~ 2 weeks, we'll have a new developer joining. More attention for C++/Qt. Stay tuned.

in plain english:

zero parts inside every new Mac being sold in 2020 (with exception for that inaccessibly spendy Mac Pro which’ll be even more scarce than pre-Trash Can Mac Pros) is replaceable, even by a repair shop, now that components are burnt-in-serial-mated to one another, making the Mac an instantly disposable appliance

I wonder if there are Mastodon communities for fashion. 🤔

I wonder if there are open culture clothes, and what that might mean.

How are clothes made? Can this be done in a decentralized way which benefits from the sharing of information? 🤔

Chromium automatically issues DNS lookups for 3 randomly generated domains on every startup and change of network.

Turns out this "adds up to a whopping half the total load on the root DNS servers… 60 billion bogus queries every day." Oops.

Mozilla just laid off 70 fantastic people. If you can help them - open positions, offering helpful conversations and references, anything else - please say so.

Use #MozillaLifeboat as an umbrella tag for easy finding. (It's already flowing on the birdsite.)

If you've been affected, I'm happy to chat directly. Also have some open positions (see rest of this thread). But doesn't have to be today - take time to recover if you can.

Most of all: thank you folks for making the web better.

If it wasn't clear already that #Zoom cares more about money than its users' #privacy and #security, here you have it:

"Only our paid users will have access to end-to-end #encryption for their meetings."

Are you looking for a simple time tracking software that works everywhere (and offline), supports unlimited projects and team members, costs nothing and could be even better - with your help! I just found Pendulums and it looks like a great fit for many:

Wow ... Another down? GitHub, NPM, now Wunderlist? I never really used this software, but it (used) to be incredibly popular!

What gives? Microsoft consolidating power, to better compete with Google? Apple?

We've just lost another. After GitHub has fallen into Microsoft's hands, and deteriorating ever since, GitHub has now purchased npm with that Microsoft monaaay.

Who's winning? Not us. Certainly not the user.
